About Us

When Kathleen Ann Harper and William Paul White bought a few signing books after their first son was born, they never thought they’d be sharing their love for baby sign language with other parents and children more than 13 years later, first with their brick-and-mortar classes through Touch Blue Sky Baby Sign Language, and now with their book and online learning center, Signs of a Happy Baby.

Since 2004, William and his network of instructors have led fun, interactive, and educational sign language classes and playgroups to more than 13,000 parents. William’s brick-and-mortar programs are offered at locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including Kaiser Permanente, Dignity Health, Sutter Health, Blossom Birth Services, Children’s Creative Learning Centers, Bright Horizons Family Solutions, and many others. Always fascinated with how people learn, William earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in Psychobiology, the study of behavior from a biological perspective. A natural-born teacher, former dancer, and hand model for companies like Apple, The Sharper Image, and Hewlett Packard, William finds that many of his interests and passions are combined into his work as a baby sign language instructor.

Kathleen has been caring for moms for more than 16 years, first through her work as a pre- and post-natal massage therapist and infant massage instructor, and now as a certified life coach and the Amazon bestselling author of The Well-Crafted Mom. In her groups and one-on-one coaching practice, Kathleen integrates coaching concepts with creative activities to help women find more balance. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Francisco State University in Integrative Healing, a specialized major that incorporated studies in psychology, philosophy and religion, holistic health, and kinesiology.

Kathleen and William live in the San Francisco Bay Area, where they enjoy spending time on adventures outdoors with their two sons (who both still sign).
